O is for Own Your Shit

I feel like I own a lot of shit.

First, there is the physical shit. Thankfully I got rid of most of that shit a long time ago, although sometimes I still feel like I have way too much shit. It sits in boxes, some of it ready to find a new home, some of it ready to be looked at and repacked into a different box. But most of it? Just shit. Dishes, books, bags, clothes, and all those other things that make life a little bit more comfortable, then a little bit more burdensome when you don’t really need them.

Then, there is the emotional shit. This shit isn’t so easy to get rid of, and sometimes I still feel like I have way too much of this shit too. It sits in my mind, some of it ready to be let go of, some of it ready to be looked at and repacked into a different category. But most of it? Just shit. Thoughts, doubts, reflections, worries, and all those other things that make life a little bit more confusing, then a little bit more burdensome when you don’t really need it to be.

However, all that shit? It’s our shit, and we own it.

Without it, we wouldn’t have our story. We wouldn’t have who we are.

That shit makes up every part of what we do, and we have the power to get rid of as much or as little of it as we want to, and whatever is leftover? We own that shit.

So, here’s to the good shit. Own it.
